Dues Request- The Interfaith Alliance-PA
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As we prepare to celebrate four years of successful operations, we are reaching out to our friends for financial assistance.
Here are some of our many successful programs:
  • We just completed our fourth September 11 program of bringing representatives of all faiths together to celebrate American unity.
  • Our first Commonwealth Interfaith Prayers for Peace program made a strong point that we are a diverse state and that representatives of all faiths can pray together in peace.
  • We have joined with other groups in urging Pennsylvania legislators to pass a fair budget.
  • For the second year, we have joined in a nationwide program called Amazing Faiths where individuals of different faiths join in a meal at a private home to celebrate religious diversity.
  • Our monthly meeting programs feature speakers from different faiths and individuals who educate us on social issues.
  • We are called on by media throughout the state for comments when religious liberties are threatened.
  • We spoke out against a proposed constitutional amendment which would require businesses and local governments to withdraw rights they had voluntarily given to same sex couples.
We would like to expand our activities significantly and we need financial assistance from you and others who support religious liberty.  We have opened an office in Harrisburg.  We are going to increase our efforts statewide.  Our dream is to assist in forming groups throughout the state to support the causes in which we believe.  We will expand our legislative advocacy so that our supporters throughout the state contact their local legislators when liberties are threatened.
To meet these expanded goals, we must expand our budget significantly.  Everyone reading this plays an important part in this work.  Together we can make a great difference across this state and throughout the country.  We know that not all people can give at the same level - but the most important thing is total participation.  As a supporter of TIA-PA, and the constituency for which we speak, please select a level appropriate to you as a form of "annual dues."  We have provided a way for online donations.
Alternatively, you'll find one of the options across the top of the TIA website--DONATE.
Either way, an internet browser window will open, allowing you to use Pay Pal to donate to TIA-PA.  If you do not have a PayPal account, you will be able to create one.
Donations can also be made by mail by using the form below and sending a check made out to:
             The Interfaith Alliance of Pennsylvania
and sending it to:
            The Interfaith Alliance of Pennsylvania
               3211 N. Front Street, Suite 104
               Harrisburg PA, 17110
Thank you so much in advance.  Together we can further the cause of Religious Liberty, and build a stronger, more vibrant interfaith society.
Carl Choper, Chair
Orientation Meeting for: The Community Responders Network
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Monday, October 19, 2009
9 to 11:30 AM
at the YWCA,
1101 Market Street
Harrisburg, PA

You are invited to participate in an orientation session that will encourage groups and individuals in the greater Harrisburg community to respond appropriately to incidents of hate and intolerance.

A group of concerned citizens - including representatives from The Interfaith Alliance of Pennsylvania - has been working with the PA Human Relations Commission to define how we can provide "a moral voice" when individuals or groups within our community are targeted.  To do so we have drawn up a manual with guidelines.

On October 19, 2009 Ann Van Dyke of the PA Human Relations Commission will work with us using actual scenarios of the kinds of incidents where a public response would be appropriate.

We invite individuals and groups to join us in this endeavor and to participate on
the morning of Monday, October 19th.

If interested, please respond to Pamela Rhoads at the YWCA:
telephone:  717-724-2241

It would be helpful to know of your interest as soon as possible so that we have adequate space for all who would like to participate.

To everyone outside of the Greater Harrisburg Area:  It is our hope and intention that the model developed here can be made available for duplication by concerned individuals and organizations in communities throughout the state.  TIA-PA will endeavor to help make that possible.  Anyone interested in knowing more about this possibility, please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
